Who we are

The Africa Down Syndrome Network (ADSN) is a working network consisting of National organizations for people with Down syndrome in Africa. ADSN was the concept of Mrs Vanessa dos Santos who is the founder member, together with 9 founding countries. It was formed on the 3rd of February, 2014 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Our goal is: To promote inclusive societies, build the capacity of Down syndrome organisations and advocate for the improvement of the lives of people with Down syndrome in Africa.
To ensure that all people with Down syndrome have equal rights To change societies perception of Down syndrome To positively influence continental policies and legislation for people with Down syndrome To remove barriers to people with Down syndrome participating in society To create equal opportunities for people with Down syndrome in order to enable them to function optimally and to achieve their full potential in all spheres of life.
